Sunshine and showers, some heavy

Broken cloud and some bright or sunny spells to start today. A few showers in western areas at first but dry in the east. Heavier showers in western Scotland and western Ireland. During this morning the showers continue, most of them in the west but a few further east too.

This afternoon sees heavier showers, some of them thundery and affecting much of Scotland, northern England and Ireland. Further heavy showers could affect the far south of England for a time before they fade.

Tonight sees the showers continuing in the west. Elsewhere it should be dry with clear spells.
