Sun south, cloud north
Rain northwest, fading

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 28th April 2025
Duty forecaster: Dan Graves

High pressure establishes in the southeast facilitating sun spells for many. A front in the far north gradually slips away from the Isles.

Good morning,

Southern England will see plenty of sunshine today, particularly eastern areas. Central England and Wales will have good sun spells too as high pressure slowly breaks cloud apart. Cloud will remain patchy in northern England, but bright and sunny spells should break through. Light winds here too with highs reaching around 21C.

Ireland and Scotland will remain cloudier. Morning drizzly rain will affect the north of Ireland and gradually slip away, leaving dry conditions for the afternoon. Northwest Scotland will see consistent rain for much of the day, particularly along the coast with some heavy spells at times. A few patchy spells of rain may slip eastward in Scotland. However, as the day goes, the band of rain will slip north and by the evening, most of the rain will be concentrated in the far north. Highs here will reach near 17C.

Expect little change overnight - southern areas will see broken cloud or widely clear skies, whereas northern areas and Ireland will be generally cloudier. Most areas will be dry though northern Scotland may see a stray drizzly shower, amounting to little if any. Low temperatures will be 8 to 10C.

Enjoy your day!
